SENSEX SOARS 521 POINTS, NIFTY ENDS AT 8678

INDIAN BENCHMARKS: SENSEX SOARS 521 POINTS, NIFTY ENDS AT 8678

The market had a stellar day with both benchmark indices gaining 1.8 percent from previous close. The Sensex was up 520.91 points or 1.9 percent at 28050.88 and the Nifty gained 157.50 points or 1.8 percent at 8677.90.

About 1884 shares advanced, 949 shares declined, and 206 shares were unchanged.
Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Tata Steel and BHEL were top gainers while ONGC and Asian Paints were losers in the Sensex.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY
  • Cabinet likely to clear stake sale in close to 20 PSUs.
  • ICICI Bank may see reduction in watch list loans portfolio
  • Ashok Leyland launches Circuit – electric bus in India.
The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 8705 and above this 8770 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 8630 and next support will be 8550.

Nifty Metal index up 40% in 2016 so far, 5 stocks rise over 50%

The Indian equity market has been witnessing high volatility in the last few weeks. On Thursday, Nifty slipped down its psychological strong support of 8600 and all sectoral indices closed in the red including this year's star performer -- Nifty Metal Index -- on the back of weak economic trade data from China. On Friday, Nifty still couldn't breach 8600.

 In the year to date so far Nifty Metal index has outperformed all other sectoral indices. The sector surged over 40 percent while Nifty50 gained only 9 percent in the same period.

 Within the sector the top five stocks have gained between 63 percent and 119 percent. Vedanta   tops the list with an upmove of 140 percent.

 Meanwhile, MCX Metal Index gained 17 percent in the same period.

GMDC Q2 PAT may dip 38.7% to Rs 70.4 cr: ICICI Securities

Bank Nifty Futures, Nifty Futures, Nifty Futures Tips, Nse Bank Nifty,

ICICI Securities has come out with its second quarter (July-September) earnings estimates for the Metals sector. The brokerage house expects GMDC to report net profit at Rs. 70.4 crore, down 38.7 percent quarter-on-quarter (up 4.3 percent year-on-year).

Sales are expected to decrease by 23.5 percent Q-o-Q (up 23.3 percent Y-o-Y) to Rs 305.4 crore, according to ICICI Securities.

arnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) are likely to fall by 32.5 percent Q-o-Q (up 28.7 percent Y-o-Y) to Rs 93.9 crore.
