Market at close: The last hour selling has pulled the indices to the day's low level after remained volatile as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cut the repo rate by 35 bps at 5.40 in its policy meet.


At close, the Sensex was down 286.35 points at 36,690.50, while Nifty was down 92.80 points at 10,855.50. About 1107 shares have advanced, 1348 shares declined, and 159 shares are unchanged. 

Indiabulls Housing, M&M, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and BPCL were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Zee Entertainment, Cipla, HUL, Yes Bank and Hero Motocorp.

Except IT and pharma, all other sectoral indices ended in the red led by bank, metal, auto, energy and infra. BSE midcap and smallcap index ended with marginal loss.


Adani Ports Q1 earnings:

The company's Q1 net profit at Rs 1,022.4 crore including one-time loss at Rs 58.6 crore. Revenue of the company for the June quarter was at Rs 2,794.5 crore

Its other income was up Rs 422.5 crore versus Rs 292.8 crore. EBITDA margin was up at 66.1% versus 52.8%.

Cipla Q1 result:

The company's Q1 consolidated net profit was up 6 percent at Rs 478.2 crore against Rs 451.3 crore. Revenue was up at Rs 3,989 crore against Rs 3,940 crore, YoY.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 24.4% at Rs 904.6 crore against Rs 727.4 crore and margin was up 220 bps at 22.7 percent versus 18.5 percent.

Closing Bell : The final hour recovery helped the Nifty to close around 11,000 level and Sensex above 37,000


At close, the Sensex was down 462.80 points at 37,018.32, while Nifty was down 138 points at 10,980. About 830 shares have advanced, 1587 shares declined, and 147 shares are unchanged. 

Vedanta, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, SBI and Tata Motors were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Wipro, Bharti Infratel, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Industries and Power Grid Corp.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY

TVS Motor July auto sales: The total sales fell 13 percent at 2.79 lakh units against .21 lakh units. The two-wheeler sales down 13.7% at 2.65 lakh units against 3.07 lakh units, YoY.

Motorcycles sales down 10.7% at 1.08 lakh units versus 1.21 lakh units and scooter sales down 11% at 1.05 lakh units against 1.18 lakh units. Total exports down 3.1 percent at 69,994 units against 72,242 units, YoY. 

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 11100 and above this 11200 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 10800 next support will be 10720 .

Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 11,200, Sensex down 196 points; Metals, auto worst hit.


Indian indices ended on negative note but off day's low on July 29 with Nifty finished below 11,200 level.
At close, the Sensex was down 196.42 points at 37,686.37, while Nifty was down 92.10 points at 11,192.20. About 797 shares have advanced, 1614 shares declined, and 124 shares are unchanged. 
Indiabulls Housing, Grasim Industries, Tata Motors, Vedanta and Bharti Infratel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, IndusInd Bank, TCS and Infosys.
Except IT all other sectoral indices ended in the red led by auto, metal, infra, pharma, FMCG and energy. BSE Midcap index shed 0.7 percent, while BSE Smallcap index fell 1 percent.

Chennai Petro Q1: Consolidated net loss at Rs 229.3 crore against loss of Rs 25 crore, revenue up 1.9% at Rs 10,147 crore against Rs 9,957 crore, QoQ.
Alembic Pharma Q1: Consolidated net profit up 36.7% at Rs 123.7 crore against Rs 90.5 crore, revenue up 10% at Rs 948.9 crore versus Rs 862.5 crore, YoY.
SBI reduces interest rate on deposits across all maturities
Infosys opens new cyber defence centre.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 11,300, Sensex up 50 pts; Yes Bank gains 9%, auto stocks jump.


The benchmark indices ended on positive note on July 26 breaking six consecutive day fall with Nifty finished near 11,300.
At close, the Sensex was up 51.81 points at 37,882.79, while Nifty was up 32.10 points at 11,284.30. About 1296 shares have advanced, 1173 shares declined, and 161 shares are unchanged. 
Yes Bank, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Eicher Motors and Hero Motocorp were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Vedanta, IOC, HDFC, Tech Mahindra and Reliance Industries.
Among sectors, except energy and IT, all other indices are ended on the higher side led by auto (up 2 percent), PSU bank (up 1.1 percent), pharma (up 1 percent) followed by FMCG, infra and metal. BSE midcap and smallcap indices ended with marginal gains.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Jubilant Life Q1 result: Consolidated net profit down 8.6% at Rs 185 crore versus Rs 202.5 crore, revenue was up 5% at Rs 2,182 crore versus Rs 2,079 crore, YoY.
Force Motors Q1: Net profit down 36.2% at Rs 26.15 crore against Rs 41 crore, revenue down 9.7% at Rs 802.48 crore against Rs 889.15 crore, YoY.
Shriram Transport buys back NCDs: Shriram Transport has bought back secured redeemable non-convertible debentures worth Rs 210.7 crore issued by the company on private placement basis.

Indian Indices:     
                                            Equity benchmarks are off their low points, with the Nifty trading around 10,200-mark. The Sensex is down 117.24 points or 0.34% at 34017.14, while the Nifty is down 42.00 points or 0.41% at 10203.30. The market breadth is negative as 767 shares advanced, against a decline of 1,130 shares, while 1,676 shares are unchanged.
Among sectors, IT is the biggest loser, followed by energy, pharma and PSU banks. The midcap index is marginally lower.

Global Market:

Asian markets: Japanese shares are lower today as the Nikkei 225 falls 2.27%. The stock markets in Hong Kong and Shanghai are closed at this time.

US Markets: Banks Lead US Stock Slide, Extending Market's Losing Streak.

European markets: European markets finished lower on Monday with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is down 0.62% while Germany's DAX is off 0.26% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 0.10%.

Indian Indices:                                SGX Nifty is indicating a marginally positive opening for the Indian markets. Indian sdmarkets are expected to trade range bound with a positive bias in today’s session. In stock specific news, Vedanta plans to raise Rs4,500cr via NCDs. According to media reports, Larsen & Toubro is set to win EPC for a new dry dock in Kochi.
Tracking modest gains in Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange and positive trend across Asian peers. modest gains in SGX Nifty Index Futures for March delivery, which was trading at 10,177.50, up by 19.50 points or 0.19, at 11:30 AM Singapore time, also signaled a flat to positive opening for the domestic equity bourses. Dalal Street investors will react to Goldman Sachs’ forecast for India's economy on Tuesday where it downgrades its real gross domestic product (GDP) forecast on India for the year to March 2019 to 7.6% from 8% earlier in the wake of recent fraud at Punjab National Bank. It warned that this would constrain credit growth.



Global Market:
·       Major Asian markets are trading in the green at present Nikkei is up 0.48%, Hang Seng is up 0.32%, while Shanghai Composite is trading marginally lower, down 0.21%.

·       US Stocks witnessed a volatile trading session before ending the session marginally in the red. The Dow edged down 0.2% to 24,682.31, the Nasdaq dipped 0.3% to 7,345.29 and the S&P 500 ended 0.2% lower at 2,711.93. The lower close on Wall Street came after the Federal Reserve announced its widely anticipated decision to raise interest rates by 25 basis points from 1.5% to 1.75%. Fed reiterated its plan to raise interest rates gradually. The central bank continues to project three rate hikes in 2018.


·       European markets ended mixed yesterday with FTSE closing 0.32% lower, CAC dipped 0.24%, while DAX ended up 0.01 %.

    India’s stock market closed on a positive note on Friday with Sensex surging over 300 points and Nifty ending just 9 points short of 10,500-mark led by a value-buying in shares of HDFC Bank, RIL, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, ITC, SBI, L&T, TCS, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Airtel and ONGC. The S&P BSE Sensex amassed 348.1 points to hit a day’s high of 34,167.6 before settling up 322.65 points at 34,142.15 and broader Nifty 50 advanced 116.4 points to hit day’s high of 10,499.1 before ending 108.35 points higher at 10,491.05. Indian equities inched higher on Friday after the five-day long subdued activity under subsumed volatility as volatility indicator — India Vix — declined 4.24% to finish at 14.2025.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS: SENSEX RALLIES OVER 350 POINTS, NIFTY 50 RECLAIMS 7450.

The S&P BSE Sensex surged over 350 points in Thursday's trade, led by gains in Infosys, HDFC, RIL, HDFC Bank, and Tata Motors.
The Nifty50 reclaimed its crucial level of 7,450 supported by gains in IT, metal, auto, oil & gas, and power stocks. The broader market traded in line with benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and small cap indices rising 0.40 and 0.34 per cent, respectively. 
Meanwhile, shares of Tata Steel surged over 3 per cent in early trade.

Extending its recent rise, the rupee appreciated 15 paisa to 67.39 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, tracking positive trading in most Asian market currencies. The domestic currency had closed at 67.54 against the greenback in the preceding session.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS: RAIL BUDGET FAILS TO LIFT MARKET, SENSEX ENDS 113 POINTS BELOW 23000, NIFTY 50 BELOW 7000

Suresh Prabhu's second Rail Budget failed to lift the domestic equity market on Thursday, as a 6 per cent crash in the Chinese stock market had a rub-off on local stocks and pulled them down.
China's Shanghai Composite index fell 6.4 per cent on Thursday on fears of tighter liquidity in the financial system. Traders and analysts also cited a confluence of reasons for the slide, including profit taking, worries about the cooling economy and anxiety over looming liberalization to initial public offerings (IPOs), which some investors fear could result in a cash crunch.
In the domestic market, SBI shares slipped 3 per cent, while Tata Motors, GAIL, L&T and Asian Paints also slipped over 2.5 per cent and dragged the 30-pack benchmark down by 112 points.

Just Dial's Rs165-cr buyback opens today
Just Dial will buy back up to 10,61,499 fully paid-up shares of face value of Rs 10 each at a price of Rs1,550 a piece for an aggregate amount of up to Rs164.53 crore.
The buyback will be undertaken on a proportionate basis from the shareholders holding shares as on December 4 by way of tender offer via the stock exchange mechanism.
The share re-purchase program will close on March 10, 2016.

Government may auction stake in ITC, L&T to achieve divestment target
ITC & L&T: As per media reports Government may auction stake in ITC and L&T to achieve divestment target.
The stakes are held via SUUTI, a state-controlled entity that was created at the time of the bailout of the erstwhile Unit Trust of India (UTI) in 2001 - Sentimentally negative for ITC & L&T.

Crompton Greaves to decide record date for demerger
Crompton Greaves will hold a meeting today to decide record date to entitle shareholders of demerged consumer business.
The stock had reacted negatively in the recent past due to lack of clarity on time line of listing of consumer business. However this would improve clarity.

SAIL plans to invest over Rs10,200 cr on mines
SAIL will invest over Rs10,200 crore on mine development as the domestic steel giant embarks on a modernisation and expansion programme.
The Maharatna PSU's modernisation and expansion drive is to enhance its steel production capacity from 12.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 21.4 MTPA at an indicative investment of Rs61, 870 crore.

NTPC raises Rs655 cr via private placement
Leading power company, NTPC Ltd has said that the company has raised Rs655 crore through private placement of secured non-convertible debentures at a coupon of 8.33% p.a. with a 5 year door-to-door maturity on February 24, 2016.
The proceeds will be utilized to finance capital expenditure / refinancing the debt requirement in on-going projects including recoupment of expenditure already incurred.

HCL signs IT outsourcing deal with Volvo Group
HCL Technologies (HCL) a leading global IT services provider, has said that it has signed a significant IT outsourcing deal with the Volvo Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles and the customers of its external IT business.
HCL also acquired Volvo’s external IT business, adding 40 new customers from the Nordics and France to its portfolio, further enhancing its market leading position in these regions. Approximately 2,500 highly skilled people working for the Volvo Group will transfer to HCL across 11 countries.

Gati gains on plan to invest in logistics start-ups
Shares of Gati rose over 9%, touching to Rs118.4, after the company said it will invest in startups in the delivery space as the company tries to achieve its target of delivering 1 million packages per day by 2020.

Biocon gets approval for generic Crestor in Europe
Biopharma major Biocon has received its first generic formulations approval in the regulated markets for a drug to reduce cholesterol. The company will begin selling its Rosuvastatin Calcium tablets indicated for hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia in 15 European countries starting financial year 2017.

M&M to invest Rs8, 000 cr on automotive plants in Maharashtra
Automotive manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) plans to invest Rs 8,000 crore in manufacturing plants in Maharashtra as part of its expansion plan.
M&M has 4 plants in Maharashtra – Chakan (Pune), Nashik, Kandivali and Igatpuri. This investment will be made over a period of 7 years and will be utilised towards infrastructure development, product development and capacity expansion for vehicles to be rolled out from Mahindra's plants in Maharashtra.

Punj Lloyd gains on winning contracts in Oman
Shares of Punj Lloyd gained over 6%, touching to Rs23.7, after the company won pipeline contracts worth Rs 2070 crore in Oman.
Punj Lloyd announced winning oil & gas EPC orders worth Rs2070 crore from Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) and Oman Gas Company (OGC) which are owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and Oman Oil Company SAOC.
