Closing Bell: Nifty ends above 11,100, Sensex gains; IndusInd Bank up 5%, metal stocks shine.


Benchmark indices snapped 2 day's losing streak and ended higher on July 31 with Nifty finished above 11,100 level.
At close, the Sensex was up 83.88 points at 37,481.12, while Nifty was up 28.40 points at 11,113.80. About 1134 shares have advanced, 1333 shares declined, and 137 shares are unchanged. 
Zee Entertainment, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, Titan Company and Bharti Infratel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank, IOC, Hero Motocorp and Tata Steel.
All the sectoral indices ended in the green led by the metal, auto, pharma, IT, infra, FMCG and energy.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Motilal Oswal Q1: Net profit up 24.6 percent at Rs 129.4 crore against Rs 103.8 crore, revenue up at Rs 609.2 crore against Rs 602.5 crore, YoY.
IOC Q1 net profit dips 41%:Oil marketing firm, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has posted 41 percent fall in its June quarter net profit at Rs 3,596.11 against Rs 6,099.3 crore in the quarter ended March 2019.
Allahabad Bank Q1: Net profit at Rs 128 crore versus loss of Rs 1,944.4 crore, while net interest income (NII) was down 10.2% at Rs 1,530.1 crore against Rs 1,703.6 crore, YoY. 

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 11360 and above this 11500 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 11060 next support will be 10960.

D-Street off highs, Sensex up over 250 points; Nifty above 10,650

Indian Indices: 
                                          Equities are off their high points on the back of some selling in the non banking financial companies and some names in the pharmaceutical space.

The Sensex is up 255.10 points or 0.73% at 35417.58, while the Nifty is higher by 69.30 points or 0.65% at 10654.10. The market breadth is positive as 1,152 shares advanced, against a decline of 400 shares, while 1,965 shares were unchanged.

Automobile stocks have lost some sheen, while banks, consumption and IT space continue to rise higher. Midcaps have witnessed some selling as well.

Global Market:

Asian markets: Japanese shares are higher today as the Nikkei 225 gains 1.59%. The stock markets in Hong Kong and Shanghai are closed at this time.

US Markets: North and South American markets finished broadly higher today with shares in Brazil leading the region. The Bovespa is up 2.83% while U.S.'s S&P 500 is up 2.15% and Mexico's IPC is up 0.95%.

European markets: European markets finished broadly higher today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is up 1.53% while Germany's DAX is up 1.40% and London's FTSE 100 is up 0.43%.

PSU banks drag indices, Sensex down over 800 points; Nifty falls 2%

Indian Indices:   
                                         There has been a smart recovery in the market from its low points, with the Sensex trading over 450 points lower. The Nifty is back above 10,300-mark.

State Bank of India, Tata Steel, and Indiabulls Housing were the top losers, while Yes Bank, ONGC and HPCL have gained the most.

The Sensex is down 476.24 points or 1.37% at 34284.65, while the Nifty is lower by 141.30 points or 1.35% at 10318.80. The market breadth is negative as 765 shares advanced, against a decline of 1,535 shares, while 1109 shares were unchanged.

Global Market:

Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 3.89% while the Hang Seng is down 3.86%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

Dow futures imply a more than 330-point loss at Thursday's open, as stock market rout continues.

European markets finished sharply lower today with shares in Germany leading the region. The DAX is down 2.21% while France's CAC 40 is off 2.11% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 1.27%.

                                         Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a flat opening for the broader index in India, a fall of 2.5 points or 0.02 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 11,485-level on the Singaporean Exchange.Investors are booking profits in banks as well as indulging in fence-sitting ahead of State Bank of India’s results. IT and metal stocks are witnessing some strength, while the midcap index is trading flat with a positive bias.

Shares of Jet Airways tanked 10 percent after the airline has deferred its results and its audit panel refused approval to its results.

Global Market:

Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 0.46% while the Hang Seng is down 0.41%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

US Markets: Nasdaq logs best streak since October as broader market closes lower.

European markets: European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The DAX gained 0.34%, while London's FTSE 100 was off 0.45%. Shares in France were unchanged with the CAC 40 at 5,502.25.

                                           Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a negative opening for the broader index in India, a fall of 4.5 points or 0.04 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,473-level on the Singaporean Exchange.The Sensex is up 117.47 points at 38,005.03, and the Nifty up 27.70 points at 11,477.70. About 671 shares have advanced, 348 shares declined, and 61 shares are unchanged.

All sectoral indices are trading in the green, with maximum gain seen in metal, energy and PSU banks.

HPCL, BPCL, IOC, Axis Bank, SBI, Hindalco, Vedanta, Selan Exploration are the gainers, while Lupin, Dr Reddy's Lab, Titan, Ashok Leyland, NMDC are on the losing side in the morning trade.

Sensex trades over 100 points higher, hitting 36,000 in the opening tick, while the Nifty is now trading above 10,900.The Sensex is up 213.26 points or 0.59% at 36147.98, and the Nifty up 61.90 points or 0.57% at 10914.80. The market breadth is positive as 1514 shares have advanced, against a decline of 623 shares, while 103 shares were unchanged.

                                             Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a flat to negative opening for the broader index in India, a fall of 2.5 points or 0.02 percent.The broader indices including the Nifty and the Sensex have managed to trade in the positive territory this Wednesday morning with the Nifty up 23 points at 10,733 and the Sensex is trading higher by 88 points at 35,375.

Asian stocks open mixed, Stocks in the news: Natco Pharma, SBI, Syndicate Bank, Sagar Cements, IOB

                              The Asian stocks open mixed. Nifty50 which with a gap down managed to recoup a majority of its losses and closed flat with slight negative bias on Friday. The Nifty50 opened the week at 10,765.95 on Monday and closed at 10,767 on Friday. But, it hit a low of 10,633.15 on 5 June and a high of 10,818 on Thursday. For Friday, Nifty index opened negative but managed to hold on to its immediate support of 10,700 – 10,720 zones and recovered towards its crucial hurdle of 10,770-10,780 zones.

Global Market:

Asian markets- Japanese shares are higher today as the Nikkei 225 gains 0.64%. The stock markets in Hong Kong and Shanghai are closed at this time.

US Markets: The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 75.12 points, or 0.3 percent, to 25,316.53, the S&P 500 gained 8.61 points, or 0.31 percent, to 2,778.98 and the Nasdaq Composite added 10.44 points, or 0.14 percent, to 7,645.51.

European markets- European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The CAC 40 gained 0.03%, while the DAX led the FTSE 100 lower. They fell 0.35% and 0.30% respectively.

                      The Nifty50 is likely to see a gap down opening on Friday weighed down by muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The Nifty50 closed 83 points lower at 10,768 levels. Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a negative opening for the broader index in India, a fall of 48 points or 0.45 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,724- level on the Singaporean Exchange. The S&P and Nasdaq fell on Thursday as the technology sector snapped a rally while investors turned to safer bets as they kept an eye on global trade tensions and waited for US and European central bank meetings.

Global Market:

Asian markets- Asian markets are lower today as Chinese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Shanghai Composite is off 1.15% while the Hang Seng is down 1.30%. The Nikkei 225 is not trading.

US Markets: The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 54.95 points, or 0.22 percent, to 24,713.98, the S&P 500 lost 2.33 points, or 0.09 percent, to 2,720.13 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 15.82 points, or 0.21 percent, to 7,382.47.

European markets- European markets finished lower today with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is down 0.17% while Germany's DAX is off 0.15% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 0.10%.

Nifty likely to open flat, Stocks in the news: NCC, Infosys, Idea, M&M, Fortis

                  The Nifty50 is expected to open flat on Friday following muted trend seen in other Asian markets. The index closed 121 points higher at 10,736 on Thursday. Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a flat opening for the broader index in India, a gain of 4.5 points or 0.04 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,720.50- level on the Singaporean Exchange. The Indian economy grew 7.7 percent in January-March, the fastest in nearly two years, signaling quick turnaround aided by rapid construction activity, consumer spending and corporate investment.

Global Market:

Asian markets- Japanese shares are higher today as the Nikkei 225 gains 0.27%. The stock markets in Hong Kong and Shanghai are closed at this time

US Markets: The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 251.94 points, or 1.02 percent, to 24,415.84, the S&P 500 lost 18.74 points, or 0.69 percent, to 2,705.27 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 20.34 points, or 0.27 percent, to 7,442.12.

European markets- European markets finished broadly lower on Thursday with shares in Germany leading the region. The DAX is down 1.40% while France's CAC 40 is off 0.53% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 0.15%.
