Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 10,950, Sensex falls 623 pts; RIL up 9%, Yes Bank falls 10%.


After holding on the gains in the first half, the market gave up all its intraday gains in the second half and ended near day's low with Nifty finished below 10,950.
At close, the Sensex was down 623.75 points at 36,958.16, while Nifty was down 183.80 points at 10,925.90. About 870 shares have advanced, 1621 shares declined, and 144 shares are unchanged. 
Yes Bank, M&M, UPL, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Indiabulls Housing, Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, GAIL and Hindalco Industries.
Among sectors, except energy (up 1.9 percent), all other indices are ended in the red led by the infra (down 3.6 percent), auto (down 4 percent), PSU bank (down 2.6 percent) followed by metal, pharma, IT and FMCG. BSE Midcap index slipped 2.2 percent, while BSE smallcap index shed 1.4 percent.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Sun Pharma Q1 result: Company's consolidated net profit rose 31 percent at Rs 1,387.5 crore against Rs 1,057.3 crore, while revenue up 16 percent at Rs 8,374.4 crore against Rs 7,224.2 crore, YoY.
Motherson Sumi falls nearly 10% on dismal Q1 result: Share price of Motherson Sumi Systems fell nearly 10 percent on August 13 after company reported dismal numbers for the quarter ended June 2019.
Bosch Q1 result: Net profit was down 35 percent at Rs 280 crore against Rs 431 crore, revenue was down 13.5 percent at Rs 2,779 crore against Rs 3,212 crore, YoY.
Sun TV Network hits 3-year low: Shares of Sun TV Network fell more than 4 percent to hit fresh three-year low on August 13 as global brokerages slashed price target on the stock after weak earnings in Q1.

The crucial resistance for Nifty spot is now seen at 11200 and above this 11460 Support for the immediate term is now placed at 10800 next support will be 10660.

Market at close: The last hour selling has pulled the indices to the day's low level after remained volatile as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cut the repo rate by 35 bps at 5.40 in its policy meet.


At close, the Sensex was down 286.35 points at 36,690.50, while Nifty was down 92.80 points at 10,855.50. About 1107 shares have advanced, 1348 shares declined, and 159 shares are unchanged. 

Indiabulls Housing, M&M, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and BPCL were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Zee Entertainment, Cipla, HUL, Yes Bank and Hero Motocorp.

Except IT and pharma, all other sectoral indices ended in the red led by bank, metal, auto, energy and infra. BSE midcap and smallcap index ended with marginal loss.


Adani Ports Q1 earnings:

The company's Q1 net profit at Rs 1,022.4 crore including one-time loss at Rs 58.6 crore. Revenue of the company for the June quarter was at Rs 2,794.5 crore

Its other income was up Rs 422.5 crore versus Rs 292.8 crore. EBITDA margin was up at 66.1% versus 52.8%.

Cipla Q1 result:

The company's Q1 consolidated net profit was up 6 percent at Rs 478.2 crore against Rs 451.3 crore. Revenue was up at Rs 3,989 crore against Rs 3,940 crore, YoY.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 24.4% at Rs 904.6 crore against Rs 727.4 crore and margin was up 220 bps at 22.7 percent versus 18.5 percent.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends above 10,800 after slipping below this level for the 1st time since Feb 27


Indian indices ended on negative note but off day's low on August 5 amid government decided to withdraw Article 370 from J&K.

Jammu and Kashmir will be a Union Territory with a legislature, while Ladakh region will be a Union Territory without a legislature, according to the government's plan for J&K, said Amit Shah.

At close, the Sensex was down 418.38 points at 36,699.84, while Nifty was down 134.80 points at 10,862.60. About 742 shares have advanced, 1659 shares declined, and 138 shares are unchanged. 

Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Coal India, TCS and Bajaj Auto were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers include Yes Bank, UPL, Tata Motors, Power Grid Corp and Grasim Industries.

Closing Bell: Nifty ends below 11,100, Sensex falls 289 pts; PSU banks tumble 5%, Bharti Airtel up 3%.


Indices fell for the second consecutive day on July 30 with Nifty ended below 11,100 level on the back of selling in PSU banks, metal and auto.
At close, the Sensex was down 289.13 points at 37,397.24, while Nifty was down 103.80 points at 11,085.40. About 567 shares have advanced, 1907 shares declined, and 109 shares are unchanged. 
Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Indiabulls Housing, Hero Motocorp and Sun Pharma were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Bharti Airtel, TCS, HCL Tech, ITC and HUL.
Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red led by PSU bank (down 4.9%), metal (down 3.3%), auto (down 2%), pharma (down 2.2%) followed by energy, FMCG and infra.

HEADLINES OF THE DAY

Kalpataru Power Q1: Net profit up 17.6% at Rs 100 crore versus Rs 85 crore, revenue up 33% at Rs 2,771 crore versus Rs 2,084 crore, YoY.
Solar Industries Q1: Net profit up 2.2% at Rs 71.1 crore against Rs 69.6 crore. Revenue up 0.9% at Rs 620 crore against Rs 614.7 crore, YoY.
Cholamandalam Investment Q1: Net profit rose 12.1% at Rs 315.2 crore against Rs 281.3 crore, NII up 16% at Rs 943 crore versus Rs 811 crore, YoY.
Indiabulls Housing Finance will issue an offer to all Debenture holder(s) for pre-mature redemption of the NCDs held by them at par. The process of offer and buyback / pre-mature redemption of these NCDs will be completed by August 14, 2019.

Sensex ends 361 points higher ahead of exit polls, Nifty just short of 10,700; Kotak Bank up 9%.

Equity benchmarks ended the session on a positive note, with the Nifty ending well above 10,650-mark.
Investors awaited cues from exit polls of elections in five states.
Financials led the surge, backed by a huge jump in Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Meanwhile, automobiles and consumption names were the big gainers, while the Nifty Midcap ended flat.
At the close of market hours, the Sensex was up 361.12 points or 1.02% at 35673.25, while the Nifty was higher by 92.50 points or 0.87% at 10693.70. The market breadth was negative as 1077 shares advanced, against a decline of 1458 shares, while 155 shares were unchanged.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, Adani Ports, and Bajaj Finserv were the top gainers, while Sun Pharma, Coal India, HCL Tech and GAIL lost the most.

ICRA has revised Jet Airways’ long term loans and NCD rating to ‘C’ from ‘B’, while the outlook is negative.
Shares of Dilip Buildcon rose 4.4 percent as company bagged order worth Rs 1,000 crore from Mahanadi Coalfield.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, in an exchange filing, has said that it is unaware of any plans by Berkshire Hathaway to buy a stake in the bank. The lender has issued a clarification based on a story by CNBC-TV18 that Warren Buffet company was looking to buy 10 percent stake.
Russia wants to cut oil output by max 150,000 bpd for first three months of 2019, according to Reuters reports.
Sebi imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Bampsl Securities for violating disclosure norms regarding the change in shareholding of Kay Power Paper. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) conducted a probe regarding the trading in the scrip of Kay Power from June to August, 2014.
Techno Electric has bagged orders worth Rs 313 crore.
GAIL India shares fell 4.5 percent in morning after global research house feels upcoming quarterly results for the company may be quite weak.

It’s a green close for the market on Tuesday, with the Nifty ending well above 10,650-mark.
A rally among PSU banks, energy names as well as IT boosted the market. In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap index ended over half a percent higher.

At the close of market hours, the Sensex ended up 159.06 points or 0.45% at 35513.14, while the Nifty was higher by 57.00 points or 0.54% at 10685.60. The market breadth was narrow as 1238 shares advanced, against a decline of 1320 shares, while 161 shares were unchanged.
Infosys, TCS, and BPCL were the top gainers, while Sun Pharma and Hero MotoCorp lost the most.

Punjab National Bank shares gained 2.5 percent after the lender expects Rs 2,500 crore recovery from Essar Steel resolution.
Zydus Cadila gets USFDA approval: Zydus Cadila has received the final approval from the USFDA to market Baclofen Tablets, 10 mg and 20 mg. It will be manufactured at the group’s formulations manufacturing facility at Baddi.

Lupin gets EIR from USFDA: The company has received EIR (Establishment Inspection Report) on the completion of an inspection by the USFDA (United States Food & Drug Administration) at its facility in Tarapur, Maharashtra.
USFDA approves ANDA filed by Granules Pharma.

Jet Airways salary payment: PTI reported that Jet Airways will pay the remaining 25 percent September salary to its senior staff early next month and is likely to come out with a revised payment schedule soon, a source at the airline said.

                                        Benchmark indices remained under pressure in late morning deals, though both were off their early trade lows. Banking & financials, technology and FMCG stocks weighed down the market.

Sensex, Nifty off lows after autos, FMCG see a pullback; midcaps recover sharply

Indian Indices:               
                                          A sharp pullback in automobiles, metals and some FMCG names has helped the market erase all of their losses and trade in the green. The Nifty is trading above 11,550, while the Sensex is marginally higher.

In the broader markets, midcaps have seen a smart recovery as well, with the Nifty Midcap index trading a percent higher. Gains in automobiles is led by a surge in Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors. The stocks are up around 3-4 percent.

Sun Pharma is down 4 percent on reports that US drug regulator has issued 6 observations to its Halol unit in Gujarat. Meanwhile, Yes Bank and Power Grid are the other top losers. Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto are the other lead gainers. 

The Sensex is up 37.07 points or 0.10% at 38279.88, while the Nifty is up 18.40 points or 0.16% at 11555.30. The market breadth is positive as 1,219 shares advanced, against a decline of 866 shares, while 131 shares were unchanged.

Global Market:

•    Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Chinese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Shanghai Composite is off 0.55% while the Hang Seng is down 0.19%. The Nikkei 225 is not trading.

•    US Markets: Nasdaq falls for a third day as Amazon, Apple and chip stocks get hit.

•    European markets: European markets finished lower today with shares in London leading the region. The FTSE 100 is down 0.87% while Germany's DAX is off 0.71% and France's CAC 40 is lower by 0.31%.

•       Asia shares hit 14-month lows, yen advances on trade jitters.
•       Rupee breaches 72/$.

Sensex marginally off its high point, Nifty manages to hold 11,700; metals extend gains

Indian Indices:  
                                        Shares are marginally off their high points, but the Nifty is managing to hold 11,700. The Sensex is trading above 38,700-mark as well.

The Bank Nifty is trading flat with a negative bias, while all other sectoral indices are trading in the green. IT, metals and pharma have extended their gains, while, autos are trading higher too. Energy stocks are seeing some weakness, with the Nifty energy index falling 0.2 percent. In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap is up around a percent. 

The Sensex is up 79.67 points or 0.21% at 38724.74, and the Nifty up 23.20 points or 0.20% at 11703.70. The market breadth is positive as 1,461 shares advanced, against a decline of 860 shares, while 108 shares are unchanged.

Global Market:

Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 0.50% while the Hang Seng is down 0.90%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

US Markets: Stocks clinch best August performance in over 4 years despite trade turmoil.

European markets: European markets finished sharply lower on Friday with shares in France leading the region. The CAC 40 is down 1.30% while London's FTSE 100 is off 1.11% and Germany's DAX is lower by 1.04%.

                                         Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a flat opening for the broader index in India, a fall of 2.5 points or 0.02 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 11,485-level on the Singaporean Exchange.Investors are booking profits in banks as well as indulging in fence-sitting ahead of State Bank of India’s results. IT and metal stocks are witnessing some strength, while the midcap index is trading flat with a positive bias.

Shares of Jet Airways tanked 10 percent after the airline has deferred its results and its audit panel refused approval to its results.

Asian markets: Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 0.46% while the Hang Seng is down 0.41%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

US Markets: Nasdaq logs best streak since October as broader market closes lower.

European markets: European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The DAX gained 0.34%, while London's FTSE 100 was off 0.45%. Shares in France were unchanged with the CAC 40 at 5,502.25.

Nifty to face resistance around 10,860 levels

Indian Indices:  
       
                 Nifty patterns on multiple timeframes show it ended the week with a Dragonfly Doji. Bank Nifty ended Friday 1.02 percent higher at 26,766.85.

Global Market:

Asian markets- Asian markets are lower today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares fall. The Nikkei 225 is off 0.37% while the Hang Seng is down 0.60%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

US Markets: The threat of a full-blown trade war isn’t having the impact on investor sentiment and stock prices that might be expected judging by double-digit gains for the Nasdaq and modest but positive returns for the S&P 500 so far.

European markets: European markets finished broadly higher on Friday with shares in London leading the region. The FTSE 100 is up 1.67% while France's CAC 40 is up 1.34% and Germany's DAX is up 0.54%.

        Nifty futures were trading around 10,782.5-level on the Singaporean Exchange.

Trend in FII flows:-  The FIIs were Net Value of Rs  -1343.44in the cash segment while the DIIs were Net Value of Rs 1105.76 as per the provisional figures.

Asia opens higher; Stocks in the news: Syndicate Bank, Aditya Birla Fashion, Videocon Industries

Indian Indices:  
                                               The Nifty index made a strong bullish candle on the daily charts and has now moved above crucial level. The Nifty, which opened at 10,603.45, slipped marginally to 10,587 before bulls took charge of D-Street. The index rose to an intraday high of 10,698.35, before closing 91 points higher at 10,684. Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a positive opening for the broader index in India, a gain of 36 points or 0.34 percent. Nifty futures were trading around 10,731- level on the Singaporean Exchange.

Global Market:

Asian markets- Asian markets are higher today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares show gains. The Nikkei 225 is up 0.95% while the Hang Seng is up 0.58%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

US Markets: The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 346.41 points, or 1.4 percent, to 25,146.39, the S&P 500 gained 23.55 points, or 0.86 percent, to 2,772.35 and the Nasdaq Composite added 51.38 points, or 0.67 percent, to 7,689.24.

European markets- European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The DAX gained 0.34% and the FTSE 100 rose 0.33%. The CAC 40 lost 0.06%.
