Sensex off day's high, Nifty holds 10,550; FMCG, pharma in the red

Indian Indices:                       
                                         Benchmark indices continued to trade higher with the Sensex rising 235.42 points to 35,100.52 and the Nifty climbing 56.80 points to 10,569.30, driven by banking & financial and auto stocks.About three shares advanced for every share falling on the BSE.

Global Market:

Asian markets: Asian markets are higher today as Chinese and Hong Kong shares show gains. The Shanghai Composite is up 0.06% while the Hang Seng is up 0.38%. The Nikkei 225 is not trading.

US Markets: North and South American markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The IPC gained 0.62% and the Bovespa rose 0.53%. The S&P 500 lost 0.59%.

European markets: European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The DAX gained 0.78% and the FTSE 100 rose 0.48%. The CAC 40 lost 0.02%.

Major Headlines of the day:

   Asia stocks bounce modestly but Saudi tensions limit gains.
   Infosys PAT likely to get a push on higher growth, margin expansion – Q2 Results to be announced Today.

Trend in FII flows:-  The FIIs were Net Value of Rs 67.86 cash segment while the DIIs were Net Value of  294.78 per the provisional figures.

Bulls in control on D-Street! Sensex, Nifty trade strong; pharma,

Indian Indices:
                                         Equity benchmarks have continued to maintain upward momentum, with the Nifty trading well above 11,400, while the Sensex is higher by around 200 points. A stronger rupee and a likely profit booking sentiment is weighing on tech stocks, with the Nifty IT index falling almost a percent.

However, other major sectors are trading in the green, with maximum gains seen in banks, metals, pharmaceuticals, as well as auto names. Midcaps, too, are trading strong and pushing indices higher. The Nifty Midcap index is up over a percent. 

At 09:45 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 194.94 points or 0.52% at 37912.90, and the Nifty up 70.00 points or 0.62% at 11439.90. The market breadth is positive as 1,344 shares advanced, against a decline of 375 shares, while 90 shares were unchanged.

Power Grid, Yes Bank, Indiabulls Housing and HPCL are the top gainers, while Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies are the top losers.

Global Market:


•    Asian markets: Asian markets are higher today as Japanese and Hong Kong shares show gains. The Nikkei 225 is up 0.97% while the Hang Seng is up 0.68%. The Shanghai Composite is not trading.

•    US Markets: Dow jumps more than 100 points as apple rises.

•    European markets: European markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The DAX gained 0.19%, while the FTSE 100 led the CAC 40 lower. They fell 0.43% and 0.08% respectively.

Major Headlines of the day:

•       Sun Pharma gets USFDA nod for specialty eye drug Xelpros
•       Nifty likely to open higher.

Trend in FII flows:-  The FIIs were Net Value of Rs -1086.39 cash segment while the DIIs were Net Value of  541.44 per the provisional figures.

STOCK BUZZ 10TH JUNE 2015


Ø Metal and mining stocks declined after China's imports tumbled at a greater pace in May, stoking concerns over a slowdown in the world's second largest economy. China is the world's largest consumer of steel, copper and aluminum. Vedanta (down 2.95%), JSW Steel (down 0.92%), Tata Steel (down 2.81%), Steel Authority of India (Sail) (down 1.25%), National Aluminium Company (down 4.26%), Hindustan Zinc (down 0.62%), Hindalco Industries (down 1.92%) and Jindal Steel & Power (down 3.09%) edged lower. Hindustan Copper (up 6.01%) and NMDC (up 0.79%) rose.

Ø  Sun TV Network lost 21.76%. With reference to the media reports captioned "MHA denies clearance to Sun TV channels, may go off air", Sun TV Network during market hours today, 8 June 2015, clarified that no communication has been received by the company in this regard from any ministry and all the company's channels continue to be on air. The stock price fell sharply after media reports indicated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has struck down the proposal by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for giving security clearance to company's 33 television channels.
