INDIAN BENCHMARKS: SENSEX CRASHES 322 POINTS, NIFTY 50 SLIP TOWARDS 7000

Domestic equity benchmarks took a deep dive on Wednesday, as a fresh slump in crude prices spooked financial markets the world over.

Public sector capital goods major BHEL -4.97 % tanked over 5 per cent along with several other blue chips such as NTPC -4.20 % (down 4.12 per cent), Tata Motors -3.63 % (down 3.63 per cent), HDFC (down 2.85 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 2.65 per cent), which resulted in a 1.32 per cent, or 310-point, slump in the 30-stock Sensex to 23,100.
The broader Nifty 50 index of the NSE slipped nearly 90.85 points or 1.28 per cent to slip below its crucial support level of 7,050 and ended the day at 7,018.70.

Glenmark receives approval for Norgestimate, Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA (Glenmark) has been granted final approval by the USFDA for Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets, the generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo Tablets of Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Glenmark’s current portfolio consists of 107 products authorized for distribution in the U.S. marketplace and 62 ANDA’s pending approval with the USFDA.

Bharti Airtel: Mittals and SingTel to buy 6% more in Airtel
The promoters of Bharti Airtel, the Mittal family and SingTel, are looking to acquire an additional 6% stake in the company. The promoters will acquire the additional 6% stake through Bharti Telecom, which holds 43.96% in Bharti Airtel.
The additional stake in Bharti Airtel will make the Telco a subsidiary of Bharti Telecom. The Mittal family and Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) are infusing Rs2, 500 crore equity capital into Bharti Telecom through a rights issue to enable the transaction.
The acquisition of shares will be funded through debt and equity. SingTel owns a 40% stake in Bharti Telecom, the Mittals own 51 per cent, while Temasek owns 7%.

Ashok Leyland falls as Nissan terminates JV
Shares of Ashok Leyland dropped over 3% to Rs89.20 on NSE on back of reports that the Nissan has terminated its JV with the company.
Nissan has issued a termination of license notice to Ashok Leyland for one of the 3 JV’s formed to manufacture small trucks.
The key reason for the dispute between the partners is over a paltry sum of Rs2.34 crore which Nissan says Leyland owes the JV.

Tech Mahindra signs five-year IT services deal with nationwide
Tech Mahindra announced that it has been selected by Nationwide Building Society to provide Network and Infrastructure Transformation services in a five year, partnership agreement.

Wipro ties up with Verveba Telecom
Wipro has entered an agreement with Verveba, a telecom network engineering company, for providing advanced mobile radio network optimisation solutions.
The companies will jointly offer solutions to address industry challenges mobile network technology deployments and optimization, especially in 4G and single RAN technologies.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK-24 FEB 2016

INDIAN BENCHMARKS are likely to witness cautious opening as the global cues look mixed with SGX Nifty trading 9 points lower. Indian equity benchmarks may open slightly lower on Wednesday tracking a renewed rout in global equities as falling crude oil prices soured risk taking appetite, whilst caution ahead of the Railway Budget and Economic Survey due this week and the Union Budget on Monday, may also prompt Dalal Street traders to stay on the sidelines. The NSE Nifty fell on Tuesday, posting its first drop after four sessions of gains, as investors turned jittery ahead of next week's Union Budget, with a reversal in oil prices putting further pressure on the market. The S&P BSE Sensex and CNX Nifty ended 1.59%-1.73% lower each. On Tuesday, February 23, 2016, 30-share BSE SENSEX closed at 23410.18, down by 378.61 points, or by 1.59 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 7109.55, down by 125 points, or by 1.73 per cent.

Trend in FII flows:   

The FIIs were net  sellers of  Rs -289.66 Cr in the cash segment on Tuesday while the DIIs were net buyers of  Rs 257.93 Cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS: SENSEX CRASHES 379 POINTS, NIFTY 50 HOLDS 7100 

Domestic equity benchmark crashed on Tuesday to snap a four-day winning streak after Moody's Investors Service said India's fiscal metrics would remain weaker than its peers in the near term even if Finance Minister Arun Jaitley sticks to the fiscal consolidation roadmap. 
Also, a fresh slump in crude oil prices dragged equity markets down the world over and while at home concerns rose over Government’s ability to support PSU Banks.
With just three more sessions left ahead of the Union Budget, investors looked nervous amid mixed signals about what Finance Minister Arun Jaitley may have in store for the B-Day, which dragged the 30-pack Sensex down as much as 379 points.

NSE exchange to add 4 companies, drop Cairn India, Vedanta, PNB from index 
Cairn, Punjab National Bank and Vedanta will be dropped from the National Stock Exchange's Nifty 50 index with effect from April 1.
In their place, Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Infratel, Eicher Motors and Tata Motors Ltd (DVR) will be included in the index. 

Infosys gains on setting revenue growth target of 16% for FY2017
Shares of Indian IT major Infosys, rose over 1% in an otherwise weak market on reports that the company has set a revenue growth target of 16% for FY2017, to be industry growth leader in FY17.
Infosys In its annual strategy meet has set target of 16% revenue growth and an margin of 27% for FY2017. Earlier, Doctor Vishal Sikka has given a broader vision of making Infosys a $20-billion company by 2020. For FY17, Nasscom has forecast export revenue growth of 10-12%.

US launches anti-dumping probe on tyres from India, Sri Lanka
United States International Trade Commission (USITC) determined to investigate that there is a reasonable indication that US industry is materially injured by imports of certain new pneumatic off-the-road tyres from India that are allegedly sold in the country at less than fair value and subsidised by the governments of India and Sri Lanka.

Nestle's Maggi market share shrinks 35% from 77%
Nestle's Maggi market share shrinks 35% from 77%, ITC’s Yippee grabs 33% - sentimentally positive for ITC.
The controversy over Maggi noodles, which led to a ban that was overturned, has seen its market share drop by almost to 35% from 77% earlier (on y-o-y basis).
ITC Foods' Sunfeast Yippee has covered much ground and came a close second with a 33% share through extensive media and promotional activities.

L&T in talks with Blackstone to sell Seawood shopping mall
Media flash: L&T in talks with Blackstone to sell its Seawood, Navi Mumbai based shopping mall, for Rs 1200-1500 crore.
The asset is being non-core asset for L&T, if the deal happens at a profitable terms, this could be positive for L&T from asset monetization point of view.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET UTLOOK-23 FEBRUARY 2016

INDIAN BENCHMARKS are likely to witness cautious opening as the global cues look mixed with SGX Nifty trading 8.50 points lower. Indian equity benchmarks are poised for a mixed opening on Tuesday as investors turn their focus to the Budget Session which begins today amid hopes that the NDA government will be able to get the green light for crucial economic reform bills such as GST which have remained stuck in the Upper House of Parliament where the centre lacks a majority. Progress on GST and its timely implementation will be important to putting Asia’s third biggest economy on the double digit growth path. Caution ahead of the Railway Budget and Economic Survey later this week may restrict gains in the local bourses while volatility could remain high as traders roll over their positions ahead of the February Futures & Options (F& O) contracts expiry on Thursday. Indian stock markets rose on Monday, posting their fourth consecutive day of gains, as a recovery in the prices of crude oil and other commodities lifted stocks such as Reliance Industries and Oil and Natural Gas Corp. The S&P BSE Sensex and CNX Nifty ended 0.34%-0.33% higher each.

Global Indices:
Asian stocks were trading mixed as oil prices turned lower after a rally on Monday, rekindling fears over a faltering global economic recovery while a weaker Yuan took toll on stocks in mainland China and Hong Kong which fell today.

Wall Street surged on Monday with benchmark S&P 500 rising to the highest level in six weeks as an impressive rebound in crude oil prices helped ease concerns that a global economic slowdown is worsening while upbeat Chicago factory data also bolstered sentiment.

European stocks rose on Monday as firmer mining company shares helped offset concerns about Britain's potential exit from the European Union, and a fall in HSBC.

The FIIs were net  sellers of  Rs -656.91 Cr in the cash segment on Monday  while the DIIs were net buyers of  Rs 597.87 Cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS are likely to witness cautious opening as the global cues look slightly supportive with SGX Nifty trading 21.50 points higher.

Global Indices:

• Asian stocks rallied on Monday as a weaker yen bolstered markets in Japan while China replaced the head of its securities regulator, underpinning confidence in the country’s equities. China’s Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng advanced over 1 per cent each amid speculation that a new regulator for the China securities market may help boost the Chinese equity market.

• Wall Street closed little changed on Friday, marking the biggest weekly rally since November led by gains in shares of technology and consumer shares, offsetting a drop in oil prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.13 per cent; the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.38 per cent while S&P 500 closed unchanged.

• European shares turned lower on Friday, hit by a drop in bank, oil and auto shares, as investors locked in gains following a strong week that has helped to stabilise markets after a tumultuous start to the year.

Trend in FII flows:   

The FIIs were net  sellers of  Rs -191.73 Cr in the cash segment on Friday while the DIIs were net buyers of  Rs 16.53 Cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.
