INDIAN BENCHMARK continued to see consolidation with the Nifty struggling at 8000 on expiry session for September derivative contracts today.

FURTHER, Coal India will extend gains as the company would benefit the most from the SC verdict on coal blocks. Jindal Steel and Power may see further pressure as the company is the most impacted by the SC verdict.

Trend in FII flows: The FIIs were net buyers of Rs 192cr in the cash segment on Wednesday while the DIIs were net sellers of Rs. 15cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS end flat ahead of F&O expiry, shrug off SC verdict

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS ended flat, amid a choppy trading session, as investors turned cautious ahead of the expiry of September derivative contracts while the Supreme Court's decision on coal blocks weighed on select metal and power stocks.

State Bank of India has approved sub division of its shares following stock split announcement from other leading lenders like ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank and Axis Bank.

Further, Inox Leisure were up nearly 4% ahead of the board meet tomorrow to merge its wholly-owned subsidiary with itself.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 8050 and above this 8070. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 7950 and next support will be 7925.

The Supreme Court, in a landmark judgment today, said that all coal blocks were cancelled except four government-run non-joint venture allotments. The apex court in an order today cancelled 214 allocated coal mines out of 218.

The Sensex is up 24.52 points at 26800 and the Nifty is up 10.30 points at 8027.85.

Wipro, Coal India, ICICI Bank, BHEL and SBI are top gainers while Hindalco, Sesa Sterlite, Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Motors and Tata Steel are major laggards in the Sensex.

The Indian rupee opened with a marginal loss at 61.03 per dollar versus 60.94.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS recorded their single-largest fall since August 1 after weaker-than-expected business activity in the euro zone and a survey which showed rise in unemployment levels in China raised concerns that global economic growth is still struggling.

Shares of India Cements ended lower by 7% after company propose to demerge the said CSK Division to a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company.

Further, DLF slips over 6.51%, after BNP Paribas downgrades the stock to 'Reduce' from 'Hold'.

Sensex, Nifty flat; midcap & smallcap outperform; IT gains

The Sensex rising 32.39 points to 27239.13 and the Nifty advancing 9.10 points to 8155.40.

TCS, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Wipro, NTPC, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra gained 0.7-1.7 percent while M&M, ITC, L&T, ONGC, HDFC Bank, DLF and Jindal Steel fell 0.4-1.4 percent.
