Sensex, Nifty flat; TCS, HCL Tech tank 6-7% on earnings

Equity benchmarks started of Friday's trade on a positive note post yesterday's sharp cut but it could not sustain those gains. It got back to consolidation mode with the Sensex rising 2.70 points to 26002.04, and the Nifty falling 4.60 points to 7743.60.

Hero Motocorp gained 1.68 percent post a 58 percent jump in second quarter net profit. Bharti Airtel, M&M, ITC, HUL, Zee Entertainment (ahead of earnings) and Asian Paints rallied 1.2-1.7 percent.

TCS tanked 7.41 percent on profit booking and lower than expected revenue numbers in the quarter ended September 2014. HCL Technologies crashed over 6 percent after its revenue missed expectations. Tech Mahindra was down 4.53 percent.

The Indian rupee has opened higher by 15 paise at 61.68 a dollar on Friday compared to previous day's closing value of 61.83 a dollar.

Jay Bharat Maruti has locked in upper circuit of 10% at Rs 149, extending its previous day’s 11% rally, after reported a strong 62% year-on-year (yoy) jump in net profit at Rs 12.24 crore for the quarter ended September 2014 (Q2). The auto parts and equipment maker had profit of Rs 7.54 crore during the same quarter previous year.

UltraTech Cement falls 5% on heavy volumes
Shares of the country’s largest cement manufacture UltraTech Cement have dipped 5% to Rs 2,346 on National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Fund raising via rights issue up 29% to Rs 2,800 cr in H1 FY14
Fund raising by Indian companies through issuing 'rights' shares surged by 29% to about Rs 2,800 crore in the first six months of the current fiscal (2014-15) amid positive market sentiment.

Somany Ceramics soars on robust Q2 results
Somany Ceramics has soared 17% to Rs 364 on National Stock Exchange after reporting a robust 68% year-on-year (yoy) jump in net profit at Rs 10.50 crore for the quarter ended September 2014 (Q2). The company engaged in ceramic tiles and allied products business had profit of Rs 6.25 crore in previous year quarter.

Sensex, Nifty flat; TCS & Hero Moto gain; Bajaj Auto falls

Equity benchmarks opened flat despite weak global cues and ahead of outcome of Maharashtra and Haryana elections that will be on Sunday.

The Sensex fell 1.37 points to 26347.96 and the Nifty declined 0.65 points to 7863.35.

Hero Motocorp and TCS gained nearly 2 percent ahead of second quarter earnings today later in the day. Tata Motors, BHEL and Tata Steel climbed over 1.5 percent.

The Indian rupee opened marginally lower on Thursday at 61.48 per dollar compared to 61.41 a dollar in previous session.

Shares of real estate major DLF recorded the sharpest single day fall since the company's listing on the bourses on July 2007, after the market regulator,  Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), barred real estate major and six of its top executives, including Chairman K P Singh, from accessing the capital market for three years.

Sensex, Nifty erase early gains; DLF tanks 19%, RIL gains

The Sensex fell 45.99 points to 26338.08 and the Nifty declined 19.05 points to 7865.20 weighed down by technology, metals, private banking and financials stocks.

DLF tanked 19 percent after market regulator SEBI barred company and its six executives from accessing capital markets for 3 years.

Shares of TCS, ITC, Infosys, Tata Motors, ONGC and HDFC declined 0.3-1 percent. Metals stocks like Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries and Sesa Sterlite fell 1-1.6 percent.

The Indian rupee gained in the opening trade. It rose 15 paise to 60.93 per dollar versus previous day's closing value of 61.08 a dollar.

The 50-share NSE Nifty managed to claw back above the 7800 level amid selling pressure, down 40.70 points or 0.52 percent at 7819.25 while the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 154.95 points or 0.59 percent to 26142.43.
